OUR STORY

Simply put, the hopportunity knocked…

St. John’s Beer Tours began with a love of puns and a simple question. That question was, how can there be no beer tours in the booziest city in Canada? To be fair, craft brewing and brewpubs are relatively new to Newfoundland. Newfoundlanders are creatures of habit, and we hold steadfast to tradition. Even if that tradition has mostly been drinking corner-store beers around a wood stove in Uncle Lou’s shed.

But thanks to a blossoming food and drink industry, things are changing. We’re seeing craft breweries pop up in the most unlikely places – even in rural Newfoundland. Newfoundland is now home to 8 craft breweries and new ones seem to be cropping up every month. So we decided to start St. John’s Beer Tours as a way to promote these amazing breweries and to share the mouthwatering beer that they are concocting with all of you!

Meet Your Guide

Kayla is an intrepid explorer and the founder of St. John’s Beer Tours. She’s also your tour guide. She’s lived in Newfoundland most of her life and is no stranger to the inside of a pub. She often wishes she could somehow drink beer and coffee at the same time, so she thanks a random deity everyday for the creation of the coffee porter. Her fondest travel memories come from meeting strangers on beer tours who have now become life-long friends.

But as much as she’s travelled, Kayla realized that there was nothing like the warm and fuzzies she got when she could share her love for Newfoundland with tourists over beers. If Newfoundlanders are known for being insanely hospitable, Kayla is their spokesperson.

When she isn’t spinning a yarn about how awesome this province is, Kayla can be found taking colorful travel photos for her instagram feed or daydreaming about the day when she owns a craft brewery of her very own. She is also a former national high-school quiz star who kills it at trivia night and a member of the all-female beer appreciation club, the Brewnettes.
